"Well, if you never had the chance to spend a day with 36 energetic, inquisitive, and fun kids, go to the next MCMG Youth Day. The organizers, Cindy Hanson and Michelle Rowland, did an outstanding job of planning and executing a great day.

From the sign in to the dismissal there was no time for anyone to get into trouble or be bored. First they learned nutrition, then outside to plant flowers, then outside for some more activity to burn off excess energy so they could get ready for lunch.

After lunch some started on Petunia Pig, others made grass heads. Then it was off to painting stepping stones.

Milt then taught all the kids about water ponds and they all watched as he made one on the spot with help from them. After a class on Pet Worms, it was time to call it a day. The biggest surprise was all the goodies each kid took home.

Even weeks later, the kids I know were still talking about how great the day was for them. They’re also looking forward to next year.

To the leaders and all the help, you did a fantastic job."

The Madison County Master Gardener Association and Purdue Extension of Madison County held their first annual Youth Day Camp, "Camp Dig-A-Lot," on June 14, 2006.   There were 36 kids attending and from the following letter written by the MG organization's president, Ed Walschlager, and the photos, it looks like they had a great time!
